I'm just totally flabbergasted by how he came back to life. He was dead, but all Dumbledore explained was that Voldermort carried Harry's blood which contained the enchantment that left Harry with protection. Does that also not mean that Voldemort was protected or something? Can someone please explain? Thanks!

Harry, he had 2 of the 3 parts of the deathly hallows with him when he died, thats one reason he survived. Also since he had the 7th (or 6th) part of voldemort in him since he was a horcrux when voldemort killed Harry with the elder wand, once again it backfired since Harry had the 2 other DH parts and he was himeself part of voldemort, so the voldemort part of him got destroyed, leaving Harry partially dead PHYSICALLY but he soul was well and trully in tact, and having the 2 DH parts he had the choice to come back and finish everything.
Oh and since Harry offered himself fully as the sacrafice, thats another reason he survived. And Voldemort taking Harrys blood in GoF is part of it too.
"But I should have died - I didnt defend myself! I meant to let him kill me!"
"And that", said Dumbledore, "will, I think, have made all the difference."
...make sense ? Does everyone agree with this ?

I also feel that since Harry was the rightful owner of the Elder wand that the wand would not fully act for Voldemort. I agree with everything else you said Jane.
If Harry had chosen not to come back then Voldemort would never have been vanquished. Plus that scene with Dumbledore was in his head so he was never truly dead.

Yes that is what I think happened. Voldemort's soul was killed when Voldemort used the AK curse on him. I also think that the wand wouldn't work for Voldemort either since Harry was the rightful owner of the wand.

yea i loved that part too, it was like, Voldy was totally PSHYCED. hahaha. you could tell that voldy was sweating Merlin's pants off because it was one of the few times where he did not know something that did not have to do with love or yadayadayada.

I wonder how that works. Harry has two souls in him (well, one and a little bit of another one, but you know what I mean...), so how did it choose what soul to kill? Couldn't it have killed Harry's sould just as easily, and left the part of Voldemort in him? Or would the Voldemort part, being as small as it was, be more vulnerable and the Avada chose to kill it because of that? I don't know... haha.

yeah, that was one question I had, because how would the spell know to kill the piece of Voldemort instead of harry? Maybe being in possession of the Elder Wand had something to do it. But I guess it's because the piece of Voldie was a tag-along, so it kind of acted as a shield. Yeah, that makes sense.

I just think that since Harry was suppose to have all the Deathly Hallows and he just walked up and told Voldemort to kill him that is why he survived. The elder wand is a very powerful wand. I think it knew which soul was which and couldn't hurt the true ruler of the elder wand. I don't think it is really all that complicated. I think we are trying to make it harder then it really is.
All I know is I love, and I mean LOVE DEATHLY HALLOWS!!

What made me confused is he never brought up the part of abut turning into a ghost. I was thinking, "wait, he's a ghost?" the whole time until Hagrid picked him up...

tell me if this sounds entirely far out there but....
it seems to me harry went on "into the light" so to speak and he was in like a diffrent world entirely.
I think when the AK curse was preformed he got to choose which of the soals would die. The little baby looking thing reminded me of when voldie came back in the 4th one so i figure that if Harry had acctually gone up to it and helped it then that piece would have survied and he would have died.
IM just so glad he got to see Dumbledore again that was just the best part i love that man.

Yeah totally, that bundle that was on the floor was voldemorts soul, it had to be as it was described the same as when Pettigrew had it in the chair at the start of GoF.
And that thing where Harry got the choice was a combo between him having the other 2 parts of the deathly hallows, the fact voldemort wasnt the true owener of the 3rd part (the elder wand) and that voldemort had some of Harrys blood in him and the fact that Harry offered himself willingly (well kind of).
Voldemorts soul was more vulnerable as its only a 7th of the original and with no protection it cant be that strong. Harrys soul was willing and strong to save the world while the part thats voldemorts soul in Harry was a coward and was scared of death, the good always wins over evil...YAY
And Michelle , yeah Harry so went into the light, they say people who ahve had near death experiences in real life go to a 'white place' thats apure clean version of what they know on earth where they can talk to their loved ones, obviously they know coz they get to come back, kinda like Harry. Its along the same lines as the book 'The 5 people you meet in Heaven'...sort of. And I think so to, if Harry was to get up and try help that 'bundle' then he would be helping Voldemorts other remaining horcrux to survive, thats why Dumbledore said to leave it, it shows though doesnt it, how wonderful Harry is, he wants to save EVERYTHING. I'm sure if Dumbledore had explained to Harry what it was though, he'd probably go over there and kick it ....LOL
