So just read on mugglenet.com that the movie has been moved back and will not be released until July 17th of 2009!! This SERIOUSLY ticks me off I swear I've been so excited and now after this long of waiting, we have to wait another 11 months!?! If you would like to read the article as well here is a link to it mugglenet.com/app/news/show/1810I just found that someone has made a petition. www.petitionspot.com/petitions/harrypotter6

OMG!!!! OMG!!!! I JUST READ IT AND I AM EXTREMELY UPSET. I HAVE BEEN PLANNING TO TAKE OFF AND ORDER TICKETS AND EVERYTHING. I AM SHOCKED.. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE REASONING BEHIND IT.
I am beginning to think that they are afraid that the Twilight movie is going to do better then HBP and so they are doing it later. If that is the reason then I think it is stupid. I know that isn't what they say but they can lie....
I know 11 months now.. This is going to be a very long year again.... I doubt the petition will do any good but I think a lot of people will sign it..

I know I was so planning it with my friends TODAY in Chemistry! We were telling my friend that she needs to finish the series (She just started reading them poor thing) and then this happens! I swear this has just made this week even more suckish.
I don't think it was because Twilight. I mean don't get me wrong, the Twilight movie looks awesome but since HP is such a enormous franchise I don't that Twilight would beat HP out, but that's just my opinion. I hope that maybe they realized that to much was cut out or something along those lines.
I don't really think it will do much either but it doesn't hurt to try *shrugs*.

Exactly. I signed the petition. I hope it helps too.
I think Twilight is going to be a great movie and has potential to be a challenge for HP but not beat it. I mean they maybe right to think that the summer is a good time for family but I don't think little kids should be going to these movies anyway. At least at this stage of the series.

I totally agree, kids from about 10 down should not really be watching the new HP movies. They are just dark and have some issues that kids that age most of the time of no idea about.
I don't know this whole thing is just very confusing...

This blows! It can't be true!
The petition won't do any good. Internet petitions aren't legible. *sigh* They sure know how to *ahem pardon me* piss people off.
I actually had plans to see it! For the first time! I can't believe it. I wonder what J.K. thinks about this. Although if their reasons were because of the strike, I can bet that J.K. or someone else, like an editor could have been able to write a script.
Having read the article, that reason I just listed is total and complete BS. They are doing it for the money as stated:
I get wanting to be able to pay off what you spent, but judging by how well GOF did when it came out in the winter months, this would have done better because it's the sixth installment to the series!
My parents said if the series dragged out past 2010 they would stop watching as it was pointless, and I have to agree. All the books are out, so we know what happens. The movie is just an added visual, and if they continue to wait, people are just going to say, 'oh well, it is kinda old now. how about that new action movie instead?'. So honestly, I don't think that, that was the best move on their part.

I agree, I think they did it because they don't have any good movies lined up for next summer so they decided to anger the true HP fans.
I also wonder if they feel that the competition won't be as hard during the summer as it is going to be in November of this year.

I know! I would think it would be better because there won't be much going on in November, and it gives people something to do! The LA Times has a new article up highlighting how upset fans are at Warner Brother's decision to push back the release of Half-Blood Prince to July 17th, 2009. They spoke with WB president Alan Horn (pictured left) about the matter, who tried to come up with more reasoning: [/blockquote]

I am just going to resign my self to the fact that this movie will be out next summer. I will be able to see it just not this year. Yes I am very upset but they aren't going to cave and move it back. I do think they need to redo the trailer because it does say November at the end....

Oh that is such bull, WB! If they loved their fans they wouldn't do this. This just fuels the idea that they are seriously just doing it for the money . They are just extremely greedy and now that the Dark Knight is so big, they want to milk HBP for all it worth as well, even if they tick fans off. I swear this is just a stupid decision, they should never have changed the date after it being announced on an EXACT date for at least two months/longer.

I agree totally Megan. It fuels the fire that will eventually burn WB in the behind. lol
If anything they should move it to March or April. Everyone will be antsy as spring is arriving, and will be determained to get out of the house. Bah, I hate it, but I have to accept it.
[[P.S. I love your icons! Great job Megan!]] [/blockquote]

Yes I think they are greedy too but I don't want think I can complain any more. I just know I can save more money now to see it or to buy other things. I do think it will burn WB too or with our luck it will make more people want to see it.
(P.S. I love the little Riddle ico the most!!)

I just thought of something else.
Dan is in New York now for Equus. I wonder if they think he won't be available for the premiere that they decided to move it and instead of saying that is the reason they are using the writers strike.
Just an idea...
