i didnt know whether i out to put this in HB section or here, but i landed here.
in HBP, chapter HORCRUXES page 463 in the British edition, that a couple of boy had smirked when Slughorn advised Riddle to work in the ministry but riddle told him that polotocs doesnt suit him, do u think that those boys would show up agin in the last book? becoz after reading 6 books of JK, i know that we always discover that a fact that we had ignored comes very important later. what do u think?

They have the same names as Voldemort's Death Eaters...I am sure one of the smirking boys was Avery, which is a Death Eater now.

well, I know there is a deatheater called Avery, but I didn't kno the boy was called Avery, was that mentioned in the book ?

Slughorn said that name...I think he said Avery I want your homework or something like that but it was Slughorn who said it...in the memory of Riddle asking Slughorn about horcruxes...

I'm not sure what is the relevance of your last comment, iamafan, as this thread is about the smirking boys.
I think they smirked because they already knew what Tom was planning to do, after all they were members of the group which became the foundation of the Death Eaters as we know them today.
Wouldn't you smirk if you knew that your friend was planning to overthrow the Ministry and seize control of the Wizarding Community like a dictator, when a teacher tells your friend that he could have a good career in the very establishment that he is planning to destroy?
