Has anyone heard or read how long the final book would be?? I heard one time last year that JK was trying to make the final book shorter than the HBP....I don't know about you guys but I expect this book to be the LONGEST in the whole series....there are so many unanswered questions, missions to be done, I hope she doesn't leave any details out...

I remember Jo saying that the book will probably be a bit longer than half blood prince. she said this in an interview last year on Richard and Judy.

I don't know how long this book is going to be either but I have heard different things. I heard it was shorter then her longest book but longer then HBP. Her longest book was OotP with 870 pages. GoF was over 700 pages and HBP is only 652 pages. I think it will be close to the 800 pages but not as long as OotP.

I heard it was going to be shorter than OotP. She said that OotP was too long because there were so many stuff in that she just couldn't crop out. But anyway, She's always said that she considered the sixth & seventh book two parts of one book. So, even if there's indeed so many unanswered questions, I don't think it'll be really as long as OotP. I think it won't because even though there is supposed to be loads of actions, but there's not a lot of ordinary, everyday bussiness as on the rest of the books. There's no classes, no quidditch. No Diagon Alley. No Hogwarts express. Those stuff are bound to lessen the pages, & give more space to -hopefully- the overload of actions.

I think it's bound to be long, not sure if longer than OotP, but I read somewhere that judging on how much it costs, it might be very long, though I can't see how, it probably costs alot coz it's the last not the longest. Well, Mems, you are right about the space classes and time at Hogwarts take, still, you should remember that Harry has about 5 Horcruxes to look for all over the..er..not the world, but probably all over Britian, and he'll go back to Hogwarts, then to Godric's Hollow, the final fight. The book should be long..I'd love it if it was.

I want it long but not so long that it gets boring with mundane stuff. I think the book is suppose to be one of her longests maybe close to the size of OotP. My guess would be close to 800 if not more pages.

I guess no JK book will ever be boring however so long it might be, still, I don't want to know the end that fast, I know I'll be thrilled and wish I didn't make this wish , but...I want to read long, exciting and shocking events. My guess is that it'll be around...yeah..around 800 pages, that's what I see the best number of pages.

800 pages is not bad at all, heck if the last book was 2,000 pages I would read it! I enjoy the series so much, it always has me wanting to read more to find out what happens next.
Anyways, about the Hogwarts part...I don't know because think about it Ron and Hermione will most likely be on their quest with Harry....BUT Hermione is the type of person that hates to miss school, and imagine....it's THEIR FINAL YEAR at Hogwarts....I don't know how JK is going to get out of that one....I BELIEVE that Harry HAS to go back to Hogwarts and into Dumbledore's office to search for a clue....or even see if DD's portrait talks to him....Harry needs to know where to start looking and what to do at the presence of a horcrux. I don't know I still believe Harry needs to get some kind of clue or advice from DD before doing what he's destined to do...
Also. I think the book ends with Harry at Dumbledore's grave...and he will hear Fawkes' song in him again...
I'm too dramatic!! lol :0)

I think they will be a Hogwarts but not for lessons as much as before. Parents are going to be afraid to send them away. We know that Harry is going to be staying at the Dursley's for a very short time which makes me feel that once his birthday comes that he will have to leave. In the HBP Dumbledore told them that the protection on Harry would be over (something like that) on his next birthday (17th) because he will be of age. Then he will go to the Weasley's for Fluer and Bill's wedding. The Weasley's will do their best to protect Harry, but Arthur will know that with Harry coming of age he can not control him. Then the trio will probably go to Godric's Hollow.
I also don't think that Voldemort is going to go right after Harry. He will probably deal with Draco and Snape first. I think Voldemort still wants to know what the prophecy says so he knows how to destroy Harry. Voldemort doesn't know what was said that night what 16 or 17 years ago. So I don't think Voldemort is going to attack Harry with out knowing what it says. I agree with you GGL about Harry getting advice from the portrait that is why I wonder if it will be somewhere else for Harry to see it other then at Hogwarts. I just don't know of too many places his portrait would be.
Okay I think I have rambled on enough for now.

Yeah but who is to say that they are going back to Hogwarts. I wonder who will choose Head boy and girl since Dumbledore is dead.

20 March 2007 In a press release sent out this morning from Scholastic, the U.S. publishers of the Harry Potter series, announced that the last book in the series will have 784 pages and that it will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste fiber. Lisa Holton, President of Scholastic Trade Publishing and Book Fairs is quoted as saying: Scholastic worked hard with our suppliers and the Rainforest Alliance to secure this extraordinary amount of recycled and FSC certified paper for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. As a company with an ongoing commitment to protecting the environment for this generation and generations to come, we believe producing this book and our future reprints of Harry Potter books with a minimum of 30% pcw recycled paper is an important publishing decision. This page count will make the book the second largest in the series, Order of the Phoenix had 870 pages and Half-blood Prince 652 pages. -------------- from hpana and: www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/03-20-2007/0004549646&EDATE=--------------

haha! I actually just came in to put this on. Jane did beat me to it, though. I never really thought a lot about the page count. This book is where all is answered, & in addition, it's JK's favourite book. So even if the count was down 5 or 6 hundred, I won't care. The quality of a book should not be measured by page-count.

No... you could have a 10,000 long page book, but it could still be complete... poop. Lol. I would much rather have quality than quantity. Still, that's long enough for me! I'm so happy!
