I think Emma should stay. Just because she will be 20 by the time she is done with all the films is not a reason to leave. I think if she leaves then the whole movies will be really different. If WB has to replace her I think it will be to hard because she has been in 5 of the movies. Alot of older actors and actresses play young parts. I hope she decides to stay even though this may not be what she wants to do for the rest of her life she should see it through till the end.

I hope Emma would stay. She play the role of Hermione really good. No one can replace her.

I know. I just hope it is a rumor. I think the movies would be so different with a different actor playing Hermione now. Maybe while she is off from filming for awhile she will realize that she should finish the series.

UGH! No, no, no! She can't quit, and they can't replace her, she's getting 20, so what?? I won't mind that, but replacing her would make the movie as bad as they could be, just like when they replaced Dumbledore, not that the movies became bad, but we found the first Dumbledore much better, and he acted in the first movie only, so what with a Hemione who acted in all five movies then was replaced?, that would be a terrible mistake.

I hope she doesn't quit. I know we won't know anything definate for a while because of the long break in between movies. I think it would be hard to replace her.

It would be very hard to have her replaced. But I mean there is only the Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows left after Order of the Phoenix, so since there is only two movies left she might as well be Hermione till the end. I mean Rupert is older than Dan and Emma and you don't see him complaining about the whole age thing.

I know Alyesha. Even the twins are alot older then their characters. I understand that she wants to finish her education but for WB to have to worry about finding another Hermione just because just isn't right. It will ruin the whole chemistry between the characters. I just hope she realizes that she could do both if she really wanted to.

The Possible people to replace her will be Rachel Hurd Wood who played Wendy in Peter Pan, Emily Browning I have forgotten the rest.

I would have to see pictures of them but I don't think it would be the same. I am so use to Emma as Hermione it just won't feel the same.

Everyone this is very Important And a real Shocker! I went on Google and typed in the following question: Is It True That Emma Watson's Contract Up? Google can confirm that Emma hasn't signed the contract for the last two movies yet NOR has Rupert that is why you can't find an attachment Monica on IMOB. I have finally got proof that she may quit after all, I found this on the movie blogs website through Google. Just to note that these aren't my words. Til you get to the end of the post as you can see i wrote a comment Here goes: "I admit it, I am a Harry Potter fan. I attend meetings, but everytime a book comes out, or the next movie gets talked about I fall off the wagon. I am hopeless".
"So imagine my distress when I read this news at SlashFilm":
The actress who plays Hermione Granger in the series thus far has yet to sign the contract for the last two installments. The worst part is, she doesn't seem eager to do so.
"I don't know yet," Watson told Newsweek. "Every film is such a huge production, and it's a long time."
The 16-year-old actress says she isn't even sure she wants to keep acting.
This is troubling news for Potter fans indeed. Like them or hate them, the Potter movies have at least had some consistency and magic because of its actors. (yes I know there were 2 Dumbledores already) People didnt just fall in love with the characters and personalities of the Harry Potter movies, they were consumed by the actors that portrayed them. If Emma Watson was to leave the movie series before it was completed its run, this could really change the feel of the characters.
I am not saying Watson is a fine actress or attempting to say she does this so well that no one could play the part. Quite the opposite. I think Watson would have a hard time moving on to something different (and I think they will all have a difficult time outliving these roles) so for her to consider quitting acting altogether wouldnt be the end of the world for Watson. She is young, and now has a heaping pile of money and a taste for Mexican beer. Im sure she will do fine.
My concern is consistency. It worked for James Bond or Batman because the CHARACTER of Batman or Bond was far bigger than the actor anyways. The actor aspired to embody that persona. In this situation, the Harry Potter fans have grown to love the character of Hermoine BECAUSE of Watson. Imagine if they replaced Harrison Ford as Indiana in the second movie, or as Han Solo. Could you even imagine someone else playing his part? (Im not comparing the acting ability of Harrison Ford to Emma - relax) This is another example of how the character is defined by its actor.
It would be weird to see someone else playing Hermoine in the movies. I dont know how well that would work. Maybe JK Rowling will write it into the next book that Hermoine dies so they just dont have to cast her for book 7.
As the SlashFilm poster says, this could also be a ploy to get more cash for her role, so who knows. Also note that IMDB has her listed as "attached" for the sixth film and that Rupert Gint (Ron Weasley) has yet to be reported as signed. This person knows what they are talking about. It has taken me 2 hours to research about Emma quitting and i have finally got proof to show everyone so what do you all think? will she or won't she?. Emma and Rupert don't have alot of time left to think about signing up or not because they start filming HBP in May.

I don't know what to think. I don't want to see her quit this series but if she feel she must then so be it. I have read most of this before so it didn't come as a big surprise to me. I had read part of that Newsweek article online. If she doesn't plan to continue acting after these films then why not just finish the series and make all that extra money and live a wonderful life.
It could very well be that she wants to get more money but they can't pay her anymore then Dan or Rupert.

My sister said it is all publicity and i think she is right. Your right too Monica. i think she wants a pay rise like Gary Oldmen did last year before he filmed OOTP. So maybe it is all a scandal to make money. I don't think she will quit because she knows that she is letting her fans down and she knows she will be hard to replace. Emma knows that she is the only one who can do Hermione better than anyone else could. the reason why she is geeting less money is because she is younger than them too. I think she doesn't like that.

personally, i think it will take a little getting use to if i was to see Hermy on the big screen being playing by another actor. But truth be told Emma's over acting is a little distracting (and cring-worthy at times) so although it would be a little weird to see someone else step into her shoes on the whole maybe it would be better for the films.

I know what you mean Pure about her over acting. I noticed that lately in the movies as I have watched them over and over again. I still would miss her though.
